DaySpeak is a private journaling app designed to help you capture your day with voice, text, photos, videos, and gentle reflections.
This Privacy Policy explains what information DaySpeak collects, how we use it, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are
DaySpeak is operated by [Legal name / developer name] ("DaySpeak," "we," "us," or "our").
This policy applies to the DaySpeak mobile app, related services, and any public DaySpeak legal pages.
2. Information you provide
Depending on how you use DaySpeak, you may provide:
- Account information, such as your email address or sign-in method.
- Journal entries you create in the app.
- Photos and videos you add to entries.
- Transcribed text created from your voice recordings.
- Feedback messages you send to us.
- Optional contact email you provide when sending feedback.
- Optional screenshots or images you manually attach to feedback.
You choose what to write, record, attach, import, export, or send.
3. Journal content and media
DaySpeak lets you create journal entries using text, voice transcription, photos, and videos.
When DaySpeak Cloud sync is on, your journal text, photos, and videos may be synced to your DaySpeak account so your journal can be available across devices and restored if needed.
If Cloud sync is off, new entries, photos, and videos are saved on your device only unless you turn sync back on.
4. Voice recordings and transcription
DaySpeak is voice-first, but raw voice recordings are treated differently from journal text.
Raw voice/audio recordings stay on your device by default and are not synced to DaySpeak Cloud.
When you use voice features, DaySpeak may turn what you say into text. The resulting transcribed text becomes part of your journal entry. If Cloud sync is on, that text may sync like other journal text.
DaySpeak does not automatically attach your raw voice recordings to feedback or support messages.
5. DaySpeak Cloud sync
DaySpeak Cloud sync helps keep your journal available across your devices.
When Cloud sync is on, DaySpeak may sync:
- Journal text.
- Entry dates and related entry metadata.
- Photos you add to journal entries.
- Videos you add to journal entries.
- Tags, moods, or other journal organization details, if used.
Cloud sync does not sync raw voice recordings by default.
You can turn Cloud sync off in Privacy & Lock. Turning Cloud sync off affects future syncing. It does not mean your new journal content is not saved; new entries, photos, and videos will still be saved locally on your device.
6. Gentle AI insights
DaySpeak may offer Gentle AI insights, such as summaries, themes, reflections, or weekly/monthly journal insights.
When Gentle AI insights are on, DaySpeak may process saved journal text to create these reflections.
You can turn Gentle AI insights off in Privacy & Lock. When it is off, DaySpeak will not create new AI insights for your journal.
Gentle AI insights are designed for personal reflection. They are not medical, mental health, legal, financial, or professional advice.
7. Feedback and diagnostics
If you send feedback through DaySpeak, we may receive:
- Your feedback message.
- Your optional email address, if you provide one.
- Screenshots or images you manually attach.
- Basic app and device information, such as app version, build number, platform, operating system version, device model, locale, and non-content error status.
Feedback does not automatically include your journal text, transcripts, raw voice recordings, diary photos, or diary videos.
Screenshots or images are only sent if you manually attach them.
8. Account and subscription information
DaySpeak may use account information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Sign you in.
- Restore access to your journal or Premium features.
- Support account security.
- Help with customer support.
If DaySpeak offers Premium subscriptions, purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds may be handled by the App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, or another purchase provider used by DaySpeak.
We may receive subscription status information, such as whether your account has an active trial or Premium entitlement. We do not receive your full payment card details from the app stores.
9. Import and export
DaySpeak may let you import journal data from supported files or export your DaySpeak journal.
Exports are created on your device and may be saved or shared using system file or share flows. You choose where to save or share exported files.
If you import a file, DaySpeak processes that file to add supported journal content into your local DaySpeak journal and, if Cloud sync is on, eligible content may later sync to your DaySpeak account.
10. Crash reporting and app diagnostics
DaySpeak may use privacy-safe crash reporting to understand app crashes and improve reliability.
Crash reports may include technical information such as app version, device type, operating system version, and error details.
Crash reports should not include your journal text, raw voice recordings, transcripts, diary photos, or diary videos.
11. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide journaling features.
- Save and sync your journal when enabled.
- Create Gentle AI insights when enabled.
- Restore your account and Premium access.
- Respond to feedback and support requests.
- Improve app reliability and fix bugs.
- Protect the security and integrity of DaySpeak.
- Comply with legal obligations.
12. What we do not do
We do not sell your journal data.
We do not use your journal content for advertising.
We do not automatically attach your journal entries, voice recordings, transcripts, photos, or videos to feedback messages.
We do not claim that AI reflections are medical care, therapy, diagnosis, or professional advice.
13. Third-party services
DaySpeak may use trusted third-party services to operate the app, such as:
- Authentication and cloud database/storage providers.
- AI processing providers.
- Subscription and entitlement providers.
- Crash reporting providers.
- App Store and Google Play services.
These services may process information only as needed to provide DaySpeak features, maintain the app, process subscriptions, or support reliability.
We choose services with privacy and security in mind, but their processing may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
14. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, account, and exported files.
If you export your journal or save it outside DaySpeak, that exported file is controlled by you and may be accessible to anyone who can access the location where you saved it.
15. Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide DaySpeak, support your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Journal content stored locally remains on your device unless you delete it, uninstall the app, clear app data, or use a deletion feature.
Cloud-synced data may remain in DaySpeak Cloud until you delete it or request deletion, subject to backup, security, and legal retention requirements.
Feedback messages may be retained to help us improve DaySpeak and respond to user issues.
16. Your choices
You can:
- Turn Cloud sync on or off in Privacy & Lock.
- Turn Gentle AI insights on or off in Privacy & Lock.
- Choose whether to attach screenshots or images to feedback.
- Choose whether to provide an email address with feedback.
- Export your journal where supported.
- Delete local content from the app where supported.
- Request account or cloud data deletion where supported.
17. Children and younger users
DaySpeak is intended for personal journaling and reflection. If you are under the age required to use online services in your location, you should use DaySpeak only with permission from a parent or guardian where required by law.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is required and has not been provided. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
18. International processing
DaySpeak and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live.
Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
19. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the app or through other appropriate means.
